Susan Kapuscinski Gaylord has been working as a visual artist since the late 1970s. After ten years of concentration in calligraphy, she turned to the artists' book which she felt provided a more intimate and flexible environment for her work. In 2005 she completed a thirteen-year project of meditative books that rested in cradles of wood, vines, and roots called the Spirit Books Series. After the completion of the series, Susan felt a new freedom to experiment. Current explorations include two-dimensional work with manipulated photographs and lettering and indoor and outdoor installations. |
